After 7 years service in the Army as an armourer, I had experience of engineering and manual work but no previous electrical or telecommunications knowledge. I found the Telecommunications resettlement course to be very well structured with a good mix of practical work and classroom lessons. Doing this course has given me the confidence that I could now go out and start work straight away, especially because of the Railway Diploma at the end of the resettlement package and the amount of hands on practical experience we have had during the whole course. During the course, I’ve had some good tips and help with my CV and I’m now looking forward to completing my 4 week work attachment with Linbrooke Services to gain more practical experience and knowledge of working on a live Railway telecommunications contract.

Robin Dyche - Army

“After five years in the British Army as an Area Systems Operator in the Royal Corps of Signals the natural choice for my resettlement was to look at the telecommunications industry. Following many nights of research I had made a shortlist of training providers and visited those on my list. Linbrooke Services stood out as the training provider that was leading the way on the technologies and methods used in the telecommunications industry and their excellent knowledge of the resettlement process. The communications cabling course that I enrolled on was great, the tutors were very professional and the facilities at Linbrooke were excellent. Other Soldiers on my course were from Artillery, Infantry and Logistics Regiments, we got along great and it was a comfort to be among other students that were from a military background. The whole six week course was intense and I had a lot to take in, but before I knew it the course was over. I was then ready to go out and start my new career with all the new qualifications and skills that I had acquired at the Linbrooke training school.” Nathan is now a permanent telecoms engineer with Linbrooke Services Ltd.

Nathan Ibbotson – Army

I found the telecommunications resettlement course and everyone involved with Linbrooke Services, very helpful and I think it should hold me in good stead for any future employment whichever direction I take in Network Engineering employment. I have been in the Royal Marines for 30 years and have come to the end of my career. I found through talking to the resettlement and transition workshop that this was the direction I wanted to take with Linbrooke Services being valued as a top company. Since completing his resettlement training with us, Darren has since been employed direct by Linbrooke Services Ltd and currently works on the Manchester Metro contract as a Telecoms Technician.

Darren Hutchinson – Royal Marine

I have left the Royal Marines after 23 years service and live in the Angus region of Scotland. After spending the past 8 years in a logistic and warehousing role, I am looking to start a new career in telecommunications and associated industries as I feel that there is a great potential for employment now and the foreseeable future. I found the Linbrooke services telecommunications course extremely beneficial in giving a good grounding and knowledge base from which to launch into the telecoms industry. The course was of a very high standard and most enjoyable. All instruction was well structured and moved at a pace that suited all students, with a graduated learning curve which allowed the previously learnt skills to be cemented in place before moving in a new direction. The instructors and administration staff were extremely helpful, always willing to impart their knowledge and go that extra mile to ensure that the training was being absorbed and keen to give guidance on career and industry options and assist with where and how to look for employment. On completion of his resettlement course, Graham Olliver (aka Olly) completed a civilian work attachment with Linbrooke Services on the Network Rail infrastructure in Scotland and is now being reviewed for permanent employment as a Telecommunications Field Technician direct with Linbrooke Services.
